Post-doctoral Fellow/Assistant Staff Scientist - Cell Cycle and Cancer Biology (GGorbsky) : Oklahoma City, OK, United States
Discover the Difference
We are currently accepting applications for a position at the level of Post-doctoral Fellow or Assistant Staff Scientist to join our research team. We use a variety of techniques to study cell cycle regulation and cell division as it occurs in normal tissue cells and in cancer cells. We are interested in the cell cycle control mechanisms (phosphorylation, regulated proteolysis) that control chromosome movement and the progression of mitosis and cytokinesis. We are investigating the regulation of the cell cycle checkpoint mechanisms that ensure chromosome stability in normal tissue cells and the ways in which these mechanisms go awry leading to chromosome instability in cancer cells. The applicant is also encouraged to apply for extramural funding through government grants, foundations and institutes.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent. Good writing skills necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or biology and experience with advanced imaging methods in light microscopy, mammalian cell culture, protein biochemistry, immunofluorescence and extensive skill in molecular biology.
