SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

Postdoctoral Fellow (Munster)

The University Hospital of Münster is one of the leading hospitals in Germany. Such a position cannot be achieved by size and medical successes alone. The individual commitment counts above all. We need your commitment so that even with little things we can achieve great things for our patients. There are many possibilities open for you so that you may develop with them.

A postdoctoral position is available at the Laboratory of Molecular Immunology of Psychiatric Diseases, Department of Psychiatry, Medical Faculty Münster (PD Dr. Judith Alferink) and at the Institute of Molecular Cell Biology, University of Münster, Germany (Univ.-Prof. Martin Bähler).

Aim of this interdisciplinary project is to decipher the molecular mechanisms of dendritic cell migration under pathophysiological conditions and the underlying intracellular signaling pathways. The visualization of the migration pattern of dendritic cells and their cellular interaction partners in the CNS will be investigated at high resolution in the living organism by studying mouse models of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. A translational approach is implemented by assessing the functions of dendritic cells in patients with neuroinflammatory CNS disorders. These studies will lead to a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of dendritic cell migration in neuroinflammation for future therapeutic approaches targeting dendritic cells in CNS disorders.

This collaboration project is funded for two years by the Cells-in-Motion Cluster of Excellence (EXC 1003 – CiM, University of Münster) of the University of Münster. Successful candidates are expected to be highly motivated and passionate for pursuing academic careers. A PhD degree and experience in immunology, molecular biology or cell biology is required.

Please send your application as a single PDF document containing a cover letter, a concise summary of previous research, a CV, a publication list and contact details for at least 2 references. Application deadline: 15th November 2014.
