PhD position in stem cell based therapeutics of vision

A PhD position is available at the Amsterdam Medical Centrum (AMC) and the Free University Medical Centre(VU), under supervision of Prof. dr Arthur Bergen and Dr. Lucie Pellissier. The project will focus on the cell transplantation of (Induced pluripotent) stem cells (IPSC/ES)-derived Retinal Pigment Epithelial (RPE) cells in mouse models of retinal diseases and the analysis of the recovery of the retinal morphology and function. Techniques employed in the lab include: stem cells to RPE cells differentiation, gene expression and protein expression analysis, retinal injection, electroretinogram recordings, Scanner laser ophthalmoscopy, Optical coherence tomography, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy. Amsterdam Medical Centrum (AMC) and the Free University (VU) located in Amsterdam are a state of the art Research Institutions with top levels scientists and facilities, including all core facilities. Experience in rodent research (Dutch animal license) and/or background in cellular and molecular biology or neuroscience or ophthalmology are an advantage.
