Postdoctoral position in system neuroscience : Copenhagen, Denmark
Our lab, hosted by the Department for Neuroscience and Pharmacology of Copenhagen University, Denmark, and by the Department of Biomedicine of Basel University, Switzerland, is currently seeking a postdoctoral researcher. The role would be to conduct a scientific project, from experiments to analysis and publication. For more information, please contact Tania Rinaldi Barkat, tbarkat@sund.ku.dk.
ABOUT THE LAB
www.taniabarkatlab.com
The aim of our lab is to understand the role of specific neuronal circuits in making sense of sounds. We combine optogenetics, in vivo physiology, voltage-sensitive dye imaging and behavioual assays to explore the functions of neuronal circuits in the mouse auditory cortex. Ongoing work in our group focuses on the following questions:
- How do auditory cortical responses develop and how can they be modified?
- What neural circuits are involved in specific sound features, and how can they influence behaviour?
- What influences does the environment have on these neuronal circuits?
JOB DESCRIPTION
The project combines in vivo extracellular recordings, behavioral assays, and optogenetics to describe the influence of abnormal environment on functional circuits in the auditory cortex of awake mice.
The successful candidate will run experiments, analyse the data, and prepare the results for publication.
Start date is as soon as possible. The period of employment is 3 years. The position is based at Copenhagen University with the possibility of frequent interactions with Basel University. The deadline for application is December 20, 2014 or until the position is filled.
