PhD in Molecular Immunology (Germany) (Magdeburg, Germany)
The research group „Organ-specific Inflammation“ (Head: Prof. Dr. D. Schlüter) of the Institute of Medical Microbiology of the OvG University of Magdeburg offers a
PhD position in Molecular Immunology
The DFG-funded position is financed by the Collaborative Research Center/ SFB 854 and its integrated graduate school (MGK 854)(http://www.sfb854.de) Topic of the project is the analysis of the functional role of E3 ligases and inhibitory signalling molecules (deubiquitinylases, DUBs) in dendritic cells, T cells and brain resident cell populations in experimental infectious (listeriosis, toxoplasmosis) and autoimmune diseases (Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis). These experiments include the use of mice with either DC, T cell and brain-specific deletion of E3 ligases or DUBs. The combined in vivo and in vitro experiments include immunological (cell proliferation assays, cytotoxic T cell assays, FACS, MACS, cell culture, CBA, ELISA), molecular biological (qPCR, siRNA, transfection) and biochemical (WB, IP, EMSA) techniques. We are a team of immunologists and microbiologists searching for a highly motivated candidate. Applications of candidates with a degree in biology,!
biochemistry, medicine or veterinary medicine are welcome. Previous publications of the group include Wang et al. (2013) Acta Neuropathol. 126:711; Nishanth et al. (2013) PloS Pathogens 9:e1003455. doi10.1371/journal.ppat.1003455; Wang et al. (2013) Eur J Immunol 43:115; Haroon et al. (2011) J Immunol 186:6521.
