Neuroblastoma is a childhood cancer which includes subtypes with very poor survival characterised by amplification of MYCN. Therapeutic targeting of oncoproteins such as MYCN has long been an aim of neuroblastoma/cancer research.
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research assistant to examine a novel route for destabilising the MYCN oncoprotein in neuroblastoma. This involves PRMT5, a methyltransferase which is involved in the post-translational regulation of MYCN (see http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.molonc.2014.10.015). The 3-year project is funded by the Neuroblastoma Society and Smile with Siddy, with an anticipated start date in spring 2015.
This project will utilise proteomic and molecular biology approaches. Candidates should have relevant technical expertise and a strong background in cancer biology and therapeutics. Previous applicants need not apply.
