PhD student position (Halle (Saale))
Our group is interested in fundamental cellular and biomedical questions related to cell motility and gene regulation. We ware investigating the regulation and function of MAL/MRTF transcription factors which are directly connected to the actin cytoskeleton and cell adhesion.
Funded by the DFG Graduiertenkolleg 1591 "Posttrancriptional control of gene expression", a position is available dealing with miRNA- mediated regulation of MRTF in a tissue culture model of muscle cell differentiation. A second available position involves the characterisation of breast cancer cells which lost their matrix adhesion, caused by reduced expression of cytoskeletal linker proteins. The succesful applicants should be highly motivated and have a MSc in biochemistry, biology or related sciences, and some experience in cellularsignalling, miRNAs, the cytoskeleton, and/ or tumor cell biology. We provide structured support for students to establish a successful scientific career.
