The GEOMAR | Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, Kiel is one of the Federal Republic of Germany (90%) and the State of Schleswig-Holstein (10%), jointly funded public foundation and is one of the leading institutions in the field of marine research. As of 1 September 2012 is the site of a / a doctoral / PhD students within the BMBF project BIOACID 2, Work Package 1-9."Impacts of ocean acidification and warming on Baltic Sea phytoplankton" to occupy.
Disclaimer: The availability of the site depends on the final approval of the project, which is expected in summer 2012.
Tasks: The task consists in the experimental analysis of the effect of elevated CO2 supply to the phytoplankton.
• mesocosm experiments on the effect of CO2 on phytoplankton
• Microscopic identification and quantification of phytoplankton
• Flow Cytometry
• Measurement of primary production with the oxygen method
• Chemical analyzes of the phytoplankton biomass (eg fatty acids)
• Working with phytoplankton cultures
Requirements: You must have a diploma or master's degree in Biological Oceanography / Marine Biology or a related field and relevant methodological experiences that are covered by the diploma or master's thesis, as well as through publications or manuscripts.
The position is limited and is awarded for 3 years. The salary is based on grade 13 TVöD Association.
The regular work week is 66% of working a / one full-time employees. The point is not divisible.
