Post-Doctoral Position – Animal Reproduction

Research important to the New Zealand dairy cattle industry

AgResearch supports the New Zealand economy by delivering innovative research solutions to the pastoral sector. We are seeking an emerging scientist to contribute to the cattle reproduction research undertaken for the NZ industry aligned to the research program 'Strategies to improve reproductive performance in dairy cattle'. The major focus of this work will be transcriptome based research aimed at identifying key gene networks in the pre-implantation bovine embryo.

This two year, fixed term role will see you working within a dynamic team environment and with external collaborators. This will enable you to grow your experience and skills and build research networks while delivering high-quality research.

Based in Ruakura, Hamilton as part of the Animal Reproduction Team, within the Animal Productivity Group, you will enjoy working in a vibrant and friendly team and for a company that actively supports your professional development.

To be successful in this role you must have:

•A PhD qualification in the animal sciences
•Expertise in reproduction science
•Familiarity with pastoral farming.
In addition you should be able to demonstrate:

•Competence in working in a team environment with team members located at other research campuses
•Ability to make decisions and draw clear conclusions
•A "can do" attitude to complex problem solving
•Innovative and integrative thinking to develop, conceptualise and analyse new methods and ideas
•A focus on ensuring accurate, high quality work
•The ability to effect communicate research findings in both written and oral forms.
