Research Fellow in the area of signaling and pattern formation in Drosophila (Dresden)
At TU Dresden, Faculty of Science, the Department of Biology,
Institute of Genetics, Chair of Systems Biology and Genetics invites
applications for a
Research Fellow
in the area of signaling and pattern formation in Drosophila
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
to be filled as soon as possible. The position entail 65% of the fulltime weekly hours and will be offered initially for three years, with a possibility of a 1-year extension afterwards. The period of employment is governed by § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
The position is part of the DFG priority programme "Epithelial intercellular junction as dynamic hubs to integrate forces, signals and cell behaviour".
The research group uses a combination of genetics, live imaging,
quantitative image analysis and biophysical approaches to understand the interplay between signals and mechanics in tissue patterning (Nature Reviews Genetics (2011) 12, 43-55; Current Biology (2012) 22, 967-976; Current Biology (2013) 23, 1472-1477) Current Biology (2014) 24, 1798-1805). More information about our group can be found at our web page http:tu-dresden.de/bio/sysbio.
Tasks: The successful candidate will work in the context of the DFG-
funded project on cell segregation at tissue boundaries using genetic, cell biological, and live imaging approaches.
Requirements: excellent university degree (Master or equivalent) in the field of Biology; interest in live imaging and tissue research; organizational skills. Candidates with experience in Drosophila research and confocal imaging are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applications from women are particularly welcome. The same applies to
people with disabilities.
Applications including CV, a short summary of Master thesis, a statement of research interest, and names of two referees should be sent until 30.06.2015 (stamped arrival date of the university central mail service applies) as single pdf-document via e-mail to christian.dahmann@tu-dresden.de (Please note: We are currently not able to receive electronically signed and encrypted data.) or to TU Dresden, Fakultaet Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften, Fachrichtung Biologie, Institut fuer Genetik, Professur fuer Systembiologie und Genetik, Herrn Prof. Christian Dahmann, 01062 Dresden, Germany. Please submit copies only, as your application will not be returned to you. Expenses incurred in attending interviews cannot be reimbursed.
