Postdoctoral Position in Neural Circuits & Stroke: Bern, Switzerland
The Zentrum für Experimentelle Neurologie (ZEN) from the Department of Neurology, University of Bern at the Inselspital University Hospital, Switzerland invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position in brain mechanisms of stroke recovery.
Our scientific goals aim at investigating the mechanism of sleep-dependent brain plasticity and cognitive functions in animal models of stroke (Prof. C. Bassetti) and the neural substrate of sleep-wake circuits and functions (Prof. A. Adamantidis). To achieve this goal, we have developed state-of-the-art technologies including gene expression analysis, calcium imaging, generation of genetically-engineered mouse models, in vitro/vivo optogenetics, in vitro electrophysiology in freely-moving rodents.
To further strengthen our group, we are seeking for one postdoctoral fellow to study the network connectivity and plasticity in an animal model of stroke. The successful candidate should have a strong experience in in vitro/vivo electrophysiology and cell/network activity imaging. Requirements for the position include (1) a PhD degree in Neuroscience, physics or engineering, (2) at least one first-author publication. Strong communication skills are essential, as the position involves working with an interdisciplinary team of experimental and clinical scientists.
Foreign citizens may apply. The position is currently open and the search will continue until the position is filled. We offer competitive salary and international working environment.
Please send (1) CV, (2) statement of post-doctoral and career goals, (3) contact information for three references to Valentina Rossetti (valentina.rossetti@insel.ch) by June 30th, 2015.
