Postdoc Positions in Human Stem Cells (ES & iPS Cells) and Heart Regenerative Medicine: Pittsburgh, PA, United States
Two post-doctoral associate positions are available in the Department of Developmental Biology, University of Pittsburgh. We explore the mechanisms of early human heart formation and model human inherited cardiovascular diseases using embryonic stem (ES) cell, patient-derived induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell and heart tissue engineering approaches. We have well-established techniques for human iPS cell generation, differentiation and cardiovascular cell characterization.
One position is specifically open for a self-motivated postdoc to study how the novel non-coding RNAs regulate early human heart development and heart disease. This project is expected to reveal a new layer of regulators in controlling human cardiogenesis and heart disease. The successful candidate must be highly self-motivated with a recent Ph.D. degree. The candidate should have solid experience in RNA-related techniques with a good publication record, and strong background in molecular biology and cell biology. Preference will be given to individuals with hands-on experience associated with RNA and/or epigenetic studies, such as RNA immunoprecipitation, chromatin immunoprecipitation assay (ChIP) and ChIP-seq. Bioinformatics skills are a plus.
The second position is open for a postdoc with strong self-motivation to generate personalized whole human heart. Recently, we at the first time generated a functional human heart construct by reseeding whole decellularized mouse heart using human ES/iPS cell-derived cardiovascular progenitor cells (Nature Communications. 2013. 4, Article number: 2307). This project is expected to accelerate the whole human heart regeneration for heart disease therapy. The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated, team-oriented researcher, capable of independent working with a recent Ph.D. degree. The candidate should have solid experience in animal surgical procedures, heart disease animal models and heart electrophysiology, with a good publication record. Preference will be given to individuals with hands-on experience in bio-device designing and bioengineering.
Interested candidates should submit their CV including names and contact information of three references and a brief description of their research experience and career goals via e-mail….
