The Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (www.helmholtz-hzi.de) seeks a Research Assistant (PhD student / in) for the working group "Cellular Proteomics" (Head: Prof. Dr. Lothar Jansch) in the Department of Structural Biology, for a joint project with the DKFZ.
The aim of the project "The role of ubiquitination in the by the Epstein-Barr virus-induced proliferation of B cells" is to study the role of ubiquitination and Deubiqutinierungsereignissen in EBV-mediated transformation of B-cells and in the case of propagation these cells.
As part of a research proposal to an established proteomics approach (quantitative peptide sequencing; UPLC Orbitrap Velos MS) responses of human cells to infection with the Epstein-Barr virus are examined. Project focus will be the elucidation of the ubiquitin (Ub) network as a post-translational modification and signal mediator. We plan to qualitative and quantitative analyzes of viral and cellular proteome in dormant, CD40-stimulated and EBV-transformed cells with a focus on ubiquitinated proteins, the identification of new and possibly viral deubiquitinierender proteases (DUBs) in proliferating and EBV-transformed cells and their substrate proteins and the function of validated targets to clarify. As well as modern methods of chemical proteomics cell biology, bioinformatics and pathway-modulating process (si / shRNA, inhibitors) are used in this project are used.
All students of the Institute will be funded as part of the Helmholtz Graduate School.
