PhD fellowship (Drug discovery / Pharmacology) (Sydney, Australia)
Students are invited to apply for a PhD scholarship at Western Sydney University (Australia), ranked as one of the worldā€™s top 100 universities under the age of 50 in the Times Higher Education rankings.
The Department of Pharmacology at the School of Medicine offers an exciting PhD project in the area of drug discovery for Alzheimerā€™s disease (AD), entitled: Evaluation of the anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects of curcumin in an animal model of chronic neuroinflammation.
Applicants require a Bachelor of Science in chemistry, biochemistry or a related area with excellent undergraduate marks, and a MSc with a strong research component (preferably in the area of histology/immunochemistry and animal behavior). Knowledge of one or more of these areas is desired: Animal perfusion, brain processing, immunohistochemistry and animal behaviour.
Admission to the program is based on a competitive selection procedure. Applications will be assessed on the basis of undergraduate (Bachelors) performance, postgraduate (MSc) performance and research output (primarily publications).
