PhD position in the Department Molecular and Allied Microbiology: Jena, Germany
The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology – Hans Knöll Institute – (HKI, www.leibniz-hki.de) investigates the pathobiology of human-pathogenic fungi and identifies targets for the development of novel natural product-based antibiotics. For a joint research project of the Department Molecular and Applied Microbiology with other groups we invite applications for a
PhD position
starting as soon as possible for three years initially. Successful candidates will investigate within the framework of the InfectControl 2020 research consortium (www.infectcontrol.de).
Project title: Molecular mechanisms of antifungal resistance and therapeutic strategies to manage infections with triazole resistant moulds.
Main topics:
• Proteomics and transcriptomics of antifungal drug action
• Screening of antifungal substances
• Elucidation of synergistic mechanisms of action
Requirements: Diploma or Master Degree in biology, chemistry or life sciences. Basic knowledge in standard techniques of biochemistry, microbiology as well as molecular biology is expected. Experience in proteomics or transcriptomics would be preferable. We would welcome a highly motivated co-worker with excellent communications skills and the ability to work on a cross-disciplinary project.
