Postdoctoral Fellow - Neuroscience & Ophthalmology: Edmonton, Canada
The Lehmann Lab at the University of Alberta, has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research fellow interested in developmental neuroscience. One project relates to a novel group of ciliopathies, and the characterization of their roles in human disease. The second concerns investigating the neural crest’s contribution to cerebrovascular disease, where integrated human and zebrafish analyses, have identified several genes that contribute to stroke [see: Journal of Clinical Investigation 2014, PMID 25250569].
Highly motivated postdoctoral candidates with a Ph.D. and a strong background in molecular/cell biology, neuroscience or developmental biology are encouraged to apply. Since both projects incorporate human genetic, cell biology and animal model approaches, applicants with relevant expertise are especially welcomed. Additional requirements include command of written and spoken English, and at least one first author publication in a strong journal. The research program is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and other agencies, and provides a competitive salary with benefits.
