A Postdoctoral Scientist position is available for work on structural studies on ribosome function within the Group of Dr Venki Ramakrishnan at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge.

Candidates should have a PhD in a biological subject or due to complete doctoral studies within 6 months of applying (in a biological subject) and experience in high-resolution structure determination of protein-nucleic acid complexes. Experience in expression, purification and biochemical and biophysical characterization of macromolecular complexes (in both eukaryotic and bacterial systems) is also essential. Candidates are required to have a track record of publications in leading journals. In addition, experience in cryoelectron microscopy is desirable.

The post is funded by a grant from the Wellcome Trust. Successful applicants will be awarded a 3-year Career Development Fellowship/MRC Postdoctoral Training Scheme. The fellowship is a training and development position for a post-doctoral scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies, or is moving into a new research discipline.
