Description
A postdoctoral researcher position is open immediately at the Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute (CVRTI), School of Medicine, University of Utah. CVRTI is cardiac research institute located at the University of Utah’s Health Sciences Center. The focus of CVRTI’s research is cardiac electrophysiology and ion transport from the molecular to the whole organ level. For more information go to http://www.cvrti.utah.edu.

The postdoctoral fellowship is for basic research on structural and functional remodeling of cardiac tissues after infarction. The research is based on experimental models, advanced approaches of microscopic imaging and novel methods for cardiac modeling and simulation. The position is initially for 2 years and can be extended. The University of Utah offers a competitive package for salary and benefits.

Qualifications
Candidates are evaluated on research ability and required expertise. The ideal candidate should have a PhD, MD or equivalent doctorate preferably with experience in cardiac experimental research, microscopic imaging and computational modeling of tissue electrophysiology. Candidates must be self- motivated and independent thinkers with excellent communication and writing skills. The successful candidate is expected to apply 2D/3D confocal microscopic imaging and multidomain modeling approaches to characterize structure-function relationships in the infarcted heart, in particular, in the border zone.
