PhD Position
Title: Application of intravital microscopy for live cell imaging of immune cells in mouse models of disease
Location: Clinical Pathobiochemistry, Technical University of Dresden, Dresden, Germany
Project supervisor: Triantafyllos Chavakis
Our group is working on understanding mechanisms regulating leukocyte recruitment in different disease models, such as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and central nervous system inflammatory models. We have previously identified Developmental endothelial locus 1 (Del1), as a major regulator of leukocyte recruitment (Choi et al, Science 2008; Choi et al, Mol Psych 2015; Maekawa et al Nat Com 2015; Eskan et al Nat Immunol. 2012). We aim at answering questions related to the regulation of inflammatory processes and recruitment of immune cells by engaging intravital laser scanning microscopy and live cell imaging techniques.
We are seeking for a motivated PhD candidate with strong experience in confocal microscopy. His/her tasks will be to perform intravital imaging in the liver and/or the brain of mice in inflammatory disease models.
Applications should include a CV and contact names and addresses of 2-3 references familiar with the work of the candidate. Please submit all materials preferably in electronic form via e-mail to
