Postdoctoral research position for the development of Nanomaterials-based 3D Printing : Dublin, Ireland
Prof Valeria Nicolosi is looking for a postdoctoral research assistant with significant practical experience in additive manufacturing. The post is available from 1 October 2016 and funding is available up to 5 years.
The project seeks to explore opportunities in advanced materials with tailored macroscopic properties, in novel energy storage component utilizing nanotechnology and also in nanosystems where the system complexity is built in materials. The specific focus is in 2D materials.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the research activity on 2D nanomaterials based functional inks and energy storage devices (batteries and supercapacitors) manufactured by 3D printing. This position will be responsible for supporting new initiatives in the arena of additive manufacturing. Responsible for the development, implementation and execution new designs for manufacture and assembly.
Applicants should have a PhD (by the start date) in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering or a related discipline. As well as experience in additive manufacturing. You should be well-organised and self-motivated with excellent oral and communication skills, plus a strong publication record in internationally peer-reviewed journals.
Background to the Post
Professor Nicolosi leads the Characterisation & Processing of Advanced Materials Group (http://physics.tcd.ie/cpam/) within the School of Chemistry. The group is devoted to the processing and electron microscopy structural characterization of low-dimensional nanostructures. Dispersability, processability and manipulation of these objects are important objectives of the group. In the group, particular attention is given to the study of the material atomic structures to better understand their fundamental physical and chemical properties. The group works on a range of low-dimensional nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes, inorganic nanowires, graphene and other inorganic two-dimensional nano-sheets.
