PhD student position in Innate Immunity in a crustacean at the Department of Comparative Physiology, Uppsala University.
Melanization; the proPO-activating system in immunity. During recent years the regulation and function of this system in innate immune reactions have been studied in detail in freshwater crayfish. This project aims to focus on the role of different components of this system in crayfish and its important for WSSV replication. The successful candidate will settle the exact profiles of her/his PhD project together with the supervisors, Professor Kenneth Söderhäll and Irene Söderhäll
The successful candidate should have a keen interest in innate immunity, and ideally experience from previous work on molecular immunology and molecular cell biology.
Successful candidates for these positions should have a masters or honors thesis in a molecular biology oriented subject. Proficiency in English is a requirement.
