IPSC/neurological disease modeling: Chicago, IL, United States

We are looking for outstanding candidates to join the Lab of Stem Cell Biology and Neurodegeneration lead by Dr. Evangelos Kiskinis at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Department of Neurology at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. Positions are available at the Postdoctoral Level.

The broad objective of our lab is to understand the nature of the degenerative processes that drive neurological disease. We are particularly interested in motor neuron disease, epileptic syndromes as well as epigenetic control of gene regulation in post mitotic neurons. We pursue this objective primarily by creating in vitro models of disease that enable us to screen and identify relevant therapeutics. We utilize patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells and direct reprogramming methods to generate different neuronal subtypes of the human CNS. We then study these cells by a combination of genomic and proteomic approaches as well as functional electrophysiological assays.

Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree with at least 3 years of proven research experience as well as at least one first author publication. Expertise in any of the following approaches: iPSC technologies, protein folding, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, ChIP, RNA-Seq, molecular biology, electrophysiology, optogenetics, MATALAB programming and stem cell biology are highly favorable.
