2 PhD positions (65 %,TV-L E13), University of Osnabrueck (Osnabruck)
The section of Ecology in the Department of Biology / Chemistry at the
University of Osnabrück invites applications for
Two scientific coworkers (Salary scale 13 TV-L, 65 %)
starting as soon as possible. Both positions are limited until 31.12.2018, but will be extended.
Your resposibilities:
• The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a
DFG-funded research project that aims at elucidating the structure, regulation,
and functioning of intercellular nanotubes. These structures are used by bacteria
to exchange cytoplasmic materials among bacterial cells (Pande et al. 2015 Nature Communications).
• Analyse the transcriptomes, proteomes, and metabolomes of nanotube-
forming cell populations.
• Electron microscopy and super-resolution live-cell imaging of nanotube-forming cells.
• Engineer and analyze knock-out/ overexpression mutants.
Required qualifications:
• The candidate must hold a university degree (M.Sc. or diploma) in biology, biochemistry or related subject areas
Desirable qualifications:
• Experience in the field of microbiology, genetics, or cell biology
• Previous experience with generating and analysing next-generation sequencing data sets
• Excellent final degree
• Structured and independent way of working
• Ability to work in a team
• Excellent command in spoken and written English
