PhD-student or postdoctoral fellow to work in the area of cancer proteomics (Freiburg)
The Institute of Pathology at the University Medical Center Freiburg, as part of the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK) is soliciting applications for a PhD-student or Postdoctoral Fellow to work in the area of cancer proteomics.
Your work will focus on the proteomic characterization of solid tumors using explorative, targeted, and spatially resolved mass spectrometry. You will operate a TSQ-Vantage system for targeted proteomics and a MALDI TOF-TOF system for spatially resolved approaches. There will be additional access to a Q-Exactive system for explorative proteomics. Your project addresses global proteomics as well as post-translational modifications with the aim of identifying cancer-specific patterns. You will be co-supervised by PD Dr Oliver Schilling and Dr Peter Bronsert.
Ideally, you are experienced with targeted proteomics, preferably using a TSQ Vantage or a related device. At least some experience in proteomics is a must. Very good computer skills (especially using R or a related language) are required; this includes proteomic analysis software such as Skyline, OpenMS, TPP or MaxQuant. Also, very good scientific writing skills and fluency (both oral and written) in English are required. Experience with cell culture techniques, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and / or microscopy is an asset. You should have a degree in the wider area of life sciences. We expect you to have a great, pro-active and open-minded work attitude, a strong interest in translational research, and very good problem-solving skills.
