SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Translational Fibrosis Research (Aachen (Germany))

A funded postdoctoral position for three years is available in the Division of Nephrology at
RWTH Aachen University in Aachen, Germany.

The Kramann laboratory (www.kramannlab.com) studies the cellular and molecular
mechanisms of organ fibrosis (heart, kindey, bone marrow and lung). We have recently
identified pericyte progenitor cells as a major source of organ fibrosis  (Kramann et al. Cell
Stem Cell 2015, Schneider et al. Cell Stem Cell 2017). We are now exploring these cells in mice
and human with the goal to develop novel targeted therapeutics for the vast and growing
patient population with organ fibrosis. It is estimated that fibrosis is responsible for almost
50% of all deaths in the developed world.

This postdoctoral project will focus on target identification using genetic fate tracing in mouse
models with RNA-Sequencing, DropSeq and proteomics followed by in vitro and in vivo target
validation experiments using CRISPR/Cas9 assays and CRISPR screening..The ideal candidate
will have outstanding molecular and cell biology training (cloning). Experience with mouse
models and flow-cytometry is strongly preferred but not mandatory.

Training in a variety of mouse models or organ fibrosis will be provided. Furthermore, training
for flow-cytometry, RNA-Seq, high resolution confocal-microscopy a will be provided.

The position should appeal most scientists who want to perform cutting edge translational
research with target identification, in vitro and in vivo gene editing and the ultimate goal to
develop novel therapeutics with an impact on patients.

To apply for this position, please submit a letter explaining your interest, a CV and contact
information of three references to Dr. Rafael Kramann (rkramann@ukaachen.de).
