PhD (m/f) in Regenerative Biology and Medicine : Munich, Germany
The Helmholtz Zentrum München in Munich, Germany, is member of one of the leading research associations in Europe – the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. The aim of our research is to proactively detect health risks involving humans and the environment, decoding the mechanisms of pathogenesis and developing concepts for prevention and therapy.
The Institute of Lungbiology (ILBD) is a translational research center dedicated to pulmonary medicine, founded by three partners: The Helmholtz Zentrum München – German Research Center for Environmental Health, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) with its University Hospital, and the Asklepios Hospital München-Gauting. The aim of our research is to proactively decode the pathogenesis of chronic lung diseases, enabling better and more precise diagnostic, monitoring and/or therapeutic regimen.

PhD (m/f) in Regenerative Biology and Medicine (Group of Dr. Yuval Rinkevich)
2017/0145
Job Description
One PhD position is available for motivated individual wishing to identify fundamental cellular and molecular principles of tissue/organ regeneration, and develop a knowledge basis for therapeutic strategies in clinical use.
Our lab explores how tissues/organs regenerate following injury and at multiple levels of biological organization, from the level of whole organisms to the level of single cells.
We employ state-of-the-art mouse genetics, multicolor "Rainbow" and Tetrachimera mouse models, surgery models in rodents, flow cytometry, cell and molecular biology approaches to pursue our diverse questions on how tissues/organs regenerate in nature, and what underlies the basis for the diversities of regeneration outcomes between different developmental stages, different organs, and taxon groups. Our work therefore carries both basic, clinical and evolutionary implications.
