Postdoctoral fellow - Leukemia research (Mannheim, Germany)
The University Medical Center Mannheim is operating as a maximum
service general hospital with a broad spectrum of diagnostic and
therapeutic resources. More than 4500 employees are conducting an
annual medical inpatient treatment for more than 50000 patients and
numerous outpatient visits. The medical faculty is part of the
600-year-old University of Heidelberg. Scientific activities,
including basic and clinical research, are reflected by numerous
scientific publications, as well as conferences and seminars organized
by its members.
The University Children’s Hospital Mannheim, Medical Faculty Mannheim
of the University of Heidelberg (Director: Prof. Dr. H. Schroten) is
looking for a
postdoctoral fellow (m/f)
The position is available as soon as possible for initially 2 years
with the possibility of extension. Closing date for application will
be August 15th, 2017.
A main focus of her/his work will be the investigation of the
pathogenesis of CNS leukemia with a special focus on the interaction
of lymphoblasts with brain microvascular endothelial cells and choroid
plexus epithelial cells using in vitro models of the blood-
cerebrospinal fluid-barrier (see Vandenhaute et al, Cancer Cell Int. 2015 Oct 24;15:102) and the blood-brain barrier.
Applicants should have the following skills:
- a special interest in the field of (tumor)cell biology/ molecular
biology and a special expertise regarding work with leukemia cell
lines, cell culture work and molecular biology techniques.
- experience in working in an internationally competitive scientific
environment
- an independent approach for research projects regarding pathogenesis
of brain metastasis
- willingness and expertise regarding the acquisition of research funds
- a completed PhD/ MD
