PhD position in image analysis (Gatersleben, Germany)
The Image Analysis group of the Molecular Genetics department at IPK Gatersleben deals with development of computational methods for derivation of quantitative traits of crop plants from multimodal and
multidimensional image data acquired in high-throughput with multispectral 2D and 3D camerad To quantitatively characterize morphological and physiological features of plant shoots and roots
under varying environmental conditions, algorithmic tools for image preprocessing, segmentation, registration, feature extraction and integrative data analysis are required.
We are looking for motivated PhD students with a degree in informatics, mathematics, physics or similar educational background and previous experience of working on signal/image processing, computer vision,
spatial-temporal modeling and/or machine learning applications. Good programming skills in one or more scientific programming languages (Matlab, Java, C/C++, Phyton, R, shell scripting) are mandatory.
The successful candidate will be given an opportunity to work in a state-or-the-art scientific environment on the rapidly growing interdisciplinary field of biological image analysis and quantitative species phenotyping.
Gross salary will be up to E13 TV-L depending on qualification, experience and family situation.
Please, forward your application as a single PDF including a cover letter, CV, copies of certificates and references to Dr. Evgeny Gladilin, {gladilin (at) ipk-gatersleben.de}.
