Open PhD position in Immunology & Fungal Research
A PhD position is available full time to study the interactions between Aspergillus fumigatus and different immune cell population in mouse models of invasive aspergillosis in hematopoietic cell transplantation (e.g. Rieber et al. Cell Host Microbe 17: 507-514, 2015, Chopra et al. J Exp Med 213: 1881–1900, 2016, Kalleda et al. Front Microbiol 7:1107, 2016). Interested and highly motivated candidates will be given the opportunity to participate in an innovative translational research consortium (FungiNet) on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions after A. fumigatus infection. We conduct experiments with fluorescent and luminescent A. fumigatus strains, transgenic optical reporter mouse lines, in vivo bioluminescence imaging and state-of-the-art microscopy techniques, flow cytometry, and molecular biology methods.
A successful applicant will have prior experience in the molecular biology of fungal infections or immunology, experience and aptitude with cell culture techniques, molecular biology and/or regulation of gene expression or animal models and adoptive cellular transfer models and/or microscopy and a theoretical background in microbiology and/or immunology. Excellent communication skills are essential, fluency in English (both written and spoken) and the ability to work independently and together with a team.
Applications from severely handicapped persons with basically similar qualification will be given priority.
Compensation will be according to German TVL 13/65%.
Interested applicants should send their electronic application including a brief cover letter describing their previous research experience and current interests, updated CV, publication list and names of two potential referees to:
