Postdoctoral Fellow - Computational Biology (Cell factory design) : Heidelberg

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), Rome (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain).   Microbial cell factories are among the most promising technologies for replacing petrochemical-based synthesis of bulk chemicals. The project involves integrative analysis of genomics, proteomics and metabolic flux modeling, combined with the data from laboratory evolution experiments, for identifying targets for productivity improvement. The candidate will work in a team with experimental biologists and will have access to the state of the art experimental and computational infrastructure.

Qualifications and Experience

The candidate should have a PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, or computer science. Experience with metabolic modeling and/or NGS data analysis is desirable. The successful candidates will be highly motivated and have excellent scientific skills. S/he should have good communication skills in English and an open, proactive personality to work in a team of young international researchers.
