Vascularization of human iPSC derived brain organoids for Parkinson's disease modeling
The Developmental and Cellular Biology Group (led by Prof. Jens Schwamborn) at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine utilizes stem cells for modelling and experimental treatment of neurodegenerative disease. Projects in the lab are at the interface of systems biology and bio-medical research. In particular we aim on gaining new insights in the complex processes that regulate neuro-degenerative as well as -regenerative processes.
In this particular project we are looking for a PhD Student who is interested in using human iPSC derived endothelial cells to vascularize Parkinson's disease specific midbrain organoids.
This project is conducted in cooperation with Dr. Andrea Pavesi (IMCB Singapore, http://www.imcb.a-star.edu.sg/php/ap.php), around 25% of the project shall be conduced in Singapore.
Successful applicants should have a strong interest in Cell Biology and Neurobiology or Vascular biology, especially experience in stem cell biology would be a plus. We are looking for highly motivated people who share our passion for research, are interested in acquiring new skills and wish to be part of an international team.
