Development of endocytosis in cochlear inner hair cells
A PhD position is available from January 2018 at the Department of Biophysics/ Center of Integrative Physiology and Molecular Medicine (CIPMM) at Saarland University, Homburg. The title of the research project is ‘Development of endocytosis in cochlear inner hair cells’.
Hair cells, the sensory cells of the auditory system, undergo a period of final differentiation before the onset of hearing, which is marked by profound physiological and molecular changes. We will investigate maturation of synaptic endocytosis in hair cells. We will use a combination of electrophysiology, molecular biology, imaging and high-resolution microscopy.
Methoden:
The PhD student will focus on live-imaging of endocytosis in combination with immunohistochemistry and molecular biological studies. A background in imaging/microscopy techniques or knowledge of molecular biology would be highly beneficial.
Anfangsdatum: 1. Januar 2018
geschätzte Dauer: 3 years
Applicants should hold a master, diploma or equivalent degree in biology or a related discipline at the point of enrolment. The candidates should have good knowledge of English.
Please send (1) a short cover letter describing your research interests, lab experiences and techniques, (2) your CV and (3) contact details of two references
