The Position
The Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship (RPF) program is aimed at supporting outstanding young scientists focusing on cooperative R&D projects between Roche and international academic institutions. As Roche Postdoctoral Fellow, you will receive scientific mentoring from both Roche and its academic partners, and gain valuable research experience from both, academic and industrial, perspectives. Dr. Gene Yeo at UCSD in San Diego will be the academic mentor for this project. As part of our Translational Research groups, you will:
• investigate human cellular models (pluripotent stem cells) of autism spectrum disorders (ASD)
• develop and modify protocols for sequencing of actively translated mRNAs (ribosome profiling, RiboSeq)
• contribute to the understanding of ASD molecular pathophysiology using state of the art technologies in cell and RNA biology
• work closely together with the Neuroscience discovery group and other internal collaborators
It is expected that a successful fellowship will result in high quality publications in peer reviewed journals.
This initially 2-year temporary position will be located in Basel, Switzerland, with the possibility to extend up to four years.

You have a recent PhD with research experience in cell biology, genomics, RNA biochemistry or related field. Furthermore, you have:
• extensive experience in cell fractionation technologies
• expertise in post-transcriptional gene regulation mechanisms and Next Generation Sequencing technologies are highly desirable
• excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled, international team
• proven productivity, are highly motivated and energetic
