Discover the Difference
A postdoctoral position in the Wang lab is available for applicants to study the differentiation of induced Pluripotent Stem (iPS) cells to pancreatic beta cells or neuronal cells. The lab primarily uses human iPS cells to study the signaling pathways and transcription factor network during stem cell differentiation. The lab is also interested in the patient-specific iPSC-derived cell-based diseasing modeling and drug discovery.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to exploit the state-of-the art high throughput screening facility in the Wang Lab for screening of large chemical libraries (>100, 000 small molecules) and arrayed genome-wide cDNA and siRNA libraries to discover novel small molecules and genes as well as signaling networks that control stem cell fates. While this position focuses on projects that lead to high quality publications, the candidates will also gain ample experience in many of the processes essential for modern drug discovery.
Ph.D. in cell biology, developmental biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or other relevant area. Must be an expert in mammalian cell culture. Expertise in cell biology and molecular biology is also required. Must be self-driven, highly motivated and well organized. Must be able to multi-task and solve problems creatively. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Experience with ES/iPS cell culture and with stem cell differentiation is a plus, but not necessary. Recent PhD graduates or candidates with 1-2 years of post-doctoral experience and first-author publications in internationally recognized journals is preferred.
OMRF is an independent, not-for-profit, biomedical research institute adjacent to the campus of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) in Oklahoma City. OMRF investigators enjoy close scientific interactions with OUHSC faculty and participate in OUHSC graduate programs. OMRF has been selected as one of the best research institutions for post-docs in 2011 and 2012 in the USA by The Scientist journal.
