A post-doctoral position is available immediately in the Laboratory of Molecular and Chemical Biology of Neurodegeneration (http://lashuel-lab.epfl.ch/) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland (www.epfl.ch).
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic researcher with a Ph.D. degree in Molecular or Cell Biology or related disciplines. Strong background and expertise in using advanced techniques and approaches to study mitochondrial structure and function in health and disease would be a considerable advantage.
The selected candidates will work on projects aimed at elucidating the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease with strong emphasis on 1) elucidating the molecular mechanisms by which a-synuclein aggregation and post-translational modifications affect the structural and functional properties of mitochondria; 2) evaluating and developing novel Parkinson’s disease therapeutic strategies aimed at targeting these mechanisms and/or targeting mitochondrial dysfunction.
The qualified candidate will benefit from working with a very dynamic and multidisciplinary group working at the interface of chemistry and biology, and competitive salary (annual salary, $82-90,000 depending on years of experience)
