Project Description:
The laboratories of Dr Elsa Rossignol and Dr Jean-Claude Lacaille are offering a post-doctoral position in electrophysiology in genetic mouse models of epilepsy at Université de Montréal for a joint project aimed at studying the roles of different cortical and hippocampal GABAergic interneurons in epilepsy following targeted mutations in genes of interest.
The post-doctoral candidate will have the opportunity to combine different techniques including mouse genetics targeting specific cell populations, patch clamp electrophysiology and multi-photon confocal calcium imaging from identified cells in brain slices, and in vivo EEG recordings to address the role of calcium channel mutations in specific interneuron populations in epileptogenesis.
Available: immediately
Deadline: march 2014

Qualifications:
A background in electrophysiology is recommended, as the candidate will be performing standard whole cell patch clamp recordings to assay membrane and synaptic properties, as well as paired recordings between interneuron and pyramidal cell to characterize unitary synaptic currents.
