The Institute of Medical Virology at the University Hospital Frankfurt, Germany, offers

2 postdoctoral positions

for two years (extension possible) starting December 2013 in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Oliver Keppler.

Replication of major human pathogens such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) can be potently suppressed by intrinsic immunity factors, also referred to as restriction factors. In turn, HIV has evolved gene products that allow circumvention of these antiviral responses. One focus of the laboratory is to identify and study new restriction factors and decipher mechanism of viral counteraction. We have a strong track record in this field (Goffinet et al., Cell Host & Microbe (2009); Erikson et al., PNAS (2011); Baldauf et al., Nature Medicine (2012)) and are particularly interested in factors that may modulate the efficiency of HIV transmission.

The successful candidate will have a strong publication record and practical experience in molecular biology, biochemistry and immunology. We expect a strong interest in virology, the ability to perform creative and independent research, and a very high level of motivation. We offer interesting research topics with high biomedical relevance in a stimulating and interactive scientific environment at an internationally competitive level.

Please send your applications with full CV including list of publications and letter of motivation until October 20, 2013 to:
