A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of George Sen, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Dermatology, Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, UCSD School of Medicine, San Diego, CA.
We are interested in determining the mechanisms that control epidermal stem cell self-renewal and differentiation. We have recently shown that transcription factors, epigenetic factors and RNA degradation enzymes are extremely critical to epidermal stem cell function and differentiation (Cell Stem Cell. 2012, 11: 127-35; Developmental Cell. 2012, 22, 669-77; Nature. 2010, 463: 563-567; Genes & Development 2008, 22: 1865-1870).
The projects focus on identifying and characterizing the role of novel factors in epidermal stem cell self-renewal, differentiation, and tumorigenesis.
Qualifications: We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with significant experience in cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology techniques.
Applicants should have a PHD or MD/PHD in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or a related field.
The successful candidate should have a good publication record, and experience in cell and molecular biology. Desired skills include small animal surgery, isolation and culture of epidermal stem cells, bioinformatics, and protein purification.
Salary is commensurate with experience and will follow university guidelines. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
Interested applicants should submit a CV (which lists at least 3 references) and a brief letter (1 page) outlining prior research experience and personal research interests to Dr. George Sen (gsen@ucsd.edu). For more information please visit our website: http://dermatology.ucsd.edu/labs/sen/…
