Independent research groups (Dresden)
At TU Dresden the BIOTEC (Biotechnology Centre) and the B CUBE
(Centre for Innovation Competence Molecular Bioengineering) are interdis-
ciplinary centres focussing on research and teaching in life sciences and
engineering. We are looking for candidates interested to apply together
with TU Dresden for the setup of
independent research groups
based on third party funding (e.g. DFG, BMBF, ERC, VolkswagenStiftung).
Applicants are expected to have an outstanding international scientific track
record in one or several of the research fields that are relevant to the
mission of BIOTEC and B CUBE, which are: bioinformatics, genomics,
proteomics, biophysics, bioengineering (incl. tissue engineering), develop-
mental biology, and bioprospecting. Only applicants who satisfy eligibility
criteria of the respective funding programs, have received their PhD in a
science discipline and have published significant research papers within
their post doc period will be considered.
Successful applicants will be invited to apply, together with the BIOTEC/B
CUBE, for junior group funding, e.g. from the Deutsche Forschungsge-
meinschaft (Emmy Noether program:
www.dfg.de/en/research_funding/programmes/individual/emmy_noether/in
dex.html), the European Union (ERC starting investigator program:
http://erc.europa.eu/starting-grants) or others.
The new research groups will be housed in state-of-the-art buildings
equipped with excellent core facilities. BIOTEC and B CUBE are located on
the Dresden Biotechnology Campus, next to the DFG Research Center and
Cluster of Excellence CRTD (www.crt-dresden.de), the Max-Planck-
Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (www.mpi-cbg.de), the
TU Dresden Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus (www.medizin.tu-
dresden.de), and the Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedi-
cine and Bioengineering (www.digs-bb.de).
For further information, please see www.biotec.tu-dresden.de and
www.tu-dresden.de/bcube.
Applications from women are particularly welcome. The same applies to
disabled people. Dual career applications are encouraged.
Applications should contain: motivation letter by the applicant (potentially indicating a preference for assignment with BIOTEC or B CUBE), CV and publication list, description of past and future research activities, acquired funding, and the contact details of three persons for references. Please send all application documents in one PDF file preferably via e-mail to: jana.fischer@biotec.tu-dresden.de (Please note: We are currently not able to receive electronically signed and encrypted data) or by post to: TU Dresden, BIOTEC, Frau Jana Fischer, Tatzberg 47/49, 01307 Dresden. Closing date is 17.01.2014 (stamped arrival date applies).
