Our group at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Tumor Research, University of Marburg, Germany is looking for a motivated and ambitious graduate student candidate. We offer a dynamic and open lab environment within a charming, lively college town.
The candidate will be working on a third party-funded project focusing on the Hedgehog signal transduction cascade in lung fibrosis. Lung fibrosis is a devastating disease for which there is currently no cure. Since the Hedgehog system seems important for the development of fibrosis in several organs, it represents a novel therapeutic option and an intense field of research.
We employ a combination of cell biological, biochemical and advanced microscopic (confocal microscopy, live cell imaging, super-resolution microscopy) approaches to uncover the mechanisms of Hedgehog signal transduction in normal and in diseased tissue. Our general aim is to identify novel and disease-relevant drug targets for future therapeutic purposes.
Applicants require a Master Degree or Diploma in Biochemistry, Cell biology, Molecular biology (or similar subjects) and a relevant research background, with previous lab experience. The position is initially funded for 2 years with an intended extension for 1-2 years. The planned starting date is in April 2014. Please send your CV, cover letter and 1-2 letters of recommendation to lauth@imt.uni-marburg.de.
Start Date: 1 April 2014
