in Development and Differentiation” funded by the DFG (GRK 1431). Qualified candidates with outstanding research potential are invited to apply to join the group of Prof. Hemmo Meyer. The project will aim at elucidating the molecular mechanisms of the ubiquitin system and how it regulates chromatin-associated processes such as chromatin structure, chromosome segregation and DNA repair in human cells. We will apply state-of-the-art approaches in light microscopy, molecular biology and proteomics to understand the molecular basis of these processes. (Further reading: Meyer et al., Nat. Cell Biol., 2012, 14:117-23, Ritz et al., Nat. Cell Biol., 2011, 13:1116-23, Meerang et al., Nat. Cell Biol., 2011, 13:1376-82, Ramadan et al., Nature, 2007, 450:1258-62)
Successful candidates (f/m) need to have a proven qualification in protein biochemistry and molecular cell biology (Master or equivalent). Candidates will benefit from the international research environment at the ZMBand GRK1431 with an interdisciplinary training program. The ZMB in Essen integrates medical research at the University Hospital and natural sciences at the Campus. The mission is to elucidate molecular mechanisms of disease and to turn this knowledge into medical progress.
