Postdoctoral Scholar in Molecular Cell Biology : Los Angeles, CA, United States
Molecular Cell Biologist.
A laboratory-based position is available immediately to study the molecular and cellular biology of early stage colorectal cancer (CRC) development using novel information derived from genome wide association studies (GWAS) and tumor studies. The open position requires a strong emphasis on stem cell biology with a focus on the development of high throughput assays to study the biological consequences of candidate genes/enhancers involved in risk of developingCRC on colon crypt development and CRC initiation and progression using normal human colon epithelial 3D models ("miniguts") and CRC cell lines. We have identified a number of candidate target genes and enhancers in GWAS risk regions using chromatin immunoprecipitation and sequencing (ChIP-seq) and RNAseq approaches, that will be tested for their role on stem cell development and cell signaling in the colon crypt using normal colon epithelial 3D “miniguts” cultures. The successful applicant will lead an individual project within a multidisciplinary translational research team that includes national and international collaborators. Candidates should have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and evidence of productivity through peer-reviewed publications. Candidates should have received their PhD no earlier than 2010. Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
