PhD Position in Regenerative Medicine
A PhD student position is available to study in the area of regenerative medicine and biomaterials in the laboratory of Dr. Jeff Wolchok at the University of Arkansas.
The student would work as part of a multidisciplinary team that combines engineers with cell biologists and clinicians to produce and test biomaterials with clinical relevancy. The laboratory is focused on the development of materials targeting the repair and regeneration of damaged skeletal muscle.
This student will receive training opportunities in a variety of sought after skill areas.
•Mechanical: Design, fabrication, and validation of bioreactors to create unique cell culture environments.
•Materials: Synthesis and fabrication of biological scaffolds with controlled geometry and architecture.
•Biological: Animal implantation and histological analysis to determine biocompatibility and the host response.
Candidates with a BS or MS in biomedical or related engineering, a GPA of over 3.25 (on the USA system scale) and a GRE score of over 312 are encouraged to apply. Distinguished Doctoral Fellowships and Doctoral Academy Fellowships are available. The combined assistantship and fellowship can add up to $25,000 to $35,000, depending on which fellowship the student is awarded.
