SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

The Research Training Group (RTG) 1591 post-transcriptional control of gene expressional offers PhD positions (E13 TV-G-U 65%) (Martin-Luther-University Halle)

The Research Training Group (RTG) “Post-transcriptional control of gene
expression: mechanisms and role in pathogenesis” at the Martin-Luther-
University Halle-Wittenberg (Germany) offers PhD Positions
(wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, E13 TV-G-U 65%) for a maximum of three
years starting from October 1st 2014.

The RTG1591 is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). We are
dedicated to training PhD students in research projects concerning the post-
transcriptional control of gene expression in directing cell fate, human
diseases and plant-pathogen interactions.  Successful candidates will
characterize, on the molecular level, how RNA-binding proteins, enzymes
acting on RNA, and various regulatory RNAs, including microRNAs, long non-
coding RNAs and bacterial sRNAs, modulate gene expression. On the basis of
animal and plant model organisms, students will explore how the post-
transcriptional control of gene expression determines cell fate and diseases.
The RTG1591 provides a structured post-graduate training program including
various workshops and seminars supporting students in establishing a
successful scientific career.

Requirements:
- excellent M. Sc. in biochemistry, biology or a comparable field.

- excellent English skills, both oral and written.

- practical scientific expertise and strong theoretical background in a relevant
 field of research.

Application procedure:
The application form and further information about the application procedure
and all scientific projects can be found at http://www.medizin.uni-halle.de/grk1591.
Please complete the application form and submit the required certificates (see
homepage). Deadline is the 7th of September 2014.
