Postdoctoral Researcher (Bioinformatics) : Norwich, United Kingdom
The Genome Analysis Centre (TGAC) has an exciting new role for a Postdoctoral Researcher to focus on developing strategies for identification and characterisation of viruses in metagenomic samples. The post holder will contribute to the design of novel assembly algorithms, develop efficient, user-friendly software tools, create simulated metagenomic datasets and perform analysis of both simulated data and real viral metagenomic data.
TGAC is a vibrant research institute with a strong skill base in genomics technologies and bioinformatics and we aim to deliver programmes leading to improved food security, advances in industrial biotechnology and improved human health and wellbeing.
The post holder will be a proficient programmer (with C, C++ or Java experience) who is excited by the challenge of developing algorithms for metagenomic data. Previous experience with genomics, metagenomics or sequence analysis would be very beneficial.
